Expreso el Sacerdote Alberto Reyes sobre la situación en Cuba: “Es un momento terminal”. Este momento es de dictadura pura y dura. El gobierno está sometiendo a un pueblo que no lo quiere y que está esperando la oportunidad de quitárselo de encima” dijo.
El sacerdote cubano Alberto Reyes, de la parroquia de Esmeralda en Camaguey, quien se ha convertido en una figura conocida dentro y fuera de la Iglesia por su posición crítica hacia el régimen, opina que el país está viviendo un momento terminal. Reyes, concedió una entrevista al periodista Mario Pentón, de Martí Noticias, afirmó que el momento actual es una de las más duros y difíciles en muchos años peores crisis
“Parecería, y es mi esperanza, que es un momento terminal, con cosas que todos sabemos pero que es bueno recordar: la comida es un problema, los precios disparados, el transporte…”, detalló.
“Siempre recalco el problema de los medicamentos, que es desastroso. El otro día recogí a un señor en un pueblo de campo y me cuenta que su único hijo de 14 años se hizo un esguince con una herida abierta, la herida se infectó y el muchacho murió, porque no hubo antibióticos. Esa es la situación dramática de nuestro pueblo”, subrayó.
El Padre señaló que en el orden espiritual hay mucha desesperanza y la sociedad civil se siente muy vulnerable, ya que cada vez que ha habido protestas la represión ha sido brutal y los castigos ejemplarizantes.
“La gente tiene miedo y el gobierno tiene miedo, porque sabe que ha perdido el corazón del pueblo”, afirmó.
“Este momento es de dictadura pura y dura. El gobierno está sometiendo a un pueblo que no lo quiere, está maniatando a un pueblo que quiere otra cosa y que está esperando la oportunidad de quitárselo de encima”, agregó.
Acerca del éxodo masivo que experimenta el país, aseguró que no se detiene ni se va a detener, y lamentó que las iglesias cubanas están vacías, sobre todo de jóvenes.
“El ambiente es: ‘cómo me voy, cómo me voy, cómo me voy’. En todas las edades”, recalcó.
EL DESINTERES DEL GOBIERNO ACTUAL
El párroco expresó que no hay ningún interés de las autoridades por cambiar la situación del pueblo, y que existe un divorcio entre el gobierno y el pueblo.
“El interés del gobierno es mantener el control y el poder; el pueblo que se busque la vida, que sobrevida como pueda. Y si protesta y se levanta, lo reprimimos, lo controlamos y le damos un regalito, un poquito de comida, para que se calme y ahí vamos apagando los fuegos que van apareciendo”, explicó.
“No solo son consignas vacías, sino también -y esto me molesta mucho- la mentira institucionalizada. Te mienten mirándote a los ojos. Te mienten por la televisión: ‘el problema energético el mes que viene va a mejorar’. No va a mejorar porque no puede mejorar. Es mentira, prefiero que no digas nada, pero no alientes una ilusión que se va a romper”, exigió.

The Cuban priest Alberto Reyes, from the Esmeralda parish in Camaguey, who has become a well-known figure inside and outside the Church for his critical position towards the regime, believes that the country is living a terminal moment. Reyes, who gave an interview to the journalist Mario Pentón, from Martí Noticias, stated that the current moment is one of the hardest and most difficult in many years of worst crises.
“It would seem, and it is my hope, that it is a terminal moment, with things that we all know but that it is good to remember: food is a problem, prices are skyrocketing, transportation…”, he detailed.
“I always emphasize the problem of medicines, which is disastrous. The other day I picked up a man in a country town and he told me that his only 14-year-old son sprained his ankle with an open wound, the wound became infected and the boy died, because there were no antibiotics. “That is the dramatic situation of our people,” he stressed.
The Father pointed out that in the spiritual order there is much despair and civil society feels very vulnerable, since every time there have been protests the repression has been brutal and the punishments exemplary.
“People are afraid and the government is afraid, because it knows that it has lost the heart of the people,” he affirmed.
“This moment is one of pure and hard dictatorship. The government is subjugating a people that does not want it, it is tying up a people that wants something else and that is waiting for the opportunity to get rid of it,” he added.
Regarding the massive exodus that the country is experiencing, he assured that it is not stopping and will not stop, and he lamented that Cuban churches are empty, especially of young people.
“The atmosphere is: ‘how am I leaving, how am I leaving, how am I leaving.’ In all ages,” he stressed.
THE DISINTEREST OF THE CURRENT GOVERNMENT
The priest said that there is no interest from the authorities to change the situation of the people, and that there is a divorce between the government and the people.
“The interest of the government is to maintain control and power; the people should seek their way, survive as they can. And if they protest and rise up, we repress them, we control them and we give them a little gift, a little food, so that they calm down and then we put out the fires that appear,” he explained.
“They are not only empty slogans, but also – and this bothers me a lot – institutionalized lies. They lie to you by looking you in the eyes. They lie to you on television: ‘the energy problem will improve next month’. It will not improve because it cannot improve. It is a lie, I prefer that you do not say anything, but do not encourage an illusion that will be broken,” he demanded.
