© CUBAN DISSIDENTS CALL for human rights meeting in Havana (Photos) * * DISIDENTES CUBANOS CONVOCAN a encuentro sobre derechos humanos en La Habana (Fotos).The independent project ‘State of Sats’ Thursday called in Havana to a meeting of intellectuals and artists, including Cuban exile artists, to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
“At a time when Cuban civil society is growing is essential direct exchange with different actors within and outside the island. Completion of this meeting will allow an approach from the art and thought to a subject as vital as human rights, “the group said in a statement obtained by CaféFuerte.
The event, titled First International Covenants on Human Rights and the UN, will open on December 10 and held for two days of panel discussions, audiovisual displays, an exhibition on art and human rights (painting, graphics, photography, installations) , performances and closing concert.
“Activists, artists, intellectuals and professionals, Cubans and the international community, will for two days to share views and experiences, in a country where such guarantees and rights are not part of everyday life,” says the announcement.
Sats State has its headquarters in the house of Antonio G Rodiles, its founder. He and his partner, activist Ailer González, have been arrested on several occasions by the repressive forces in Cuba.
For another Cuba
Rodiles suffered a beating and was arrested 19 days last November. On August 16, the State Security tried to stop the screening of a documentary about the Chinese dissident artist Ai Weiwei, but more than 30 people mocked the fence to the house and were able to attend the function.
Since August 2012, State of Sats performed the “For another Cuba”, to demand that the Cuban government ratification and implementation of the agreements of civil and political rights and economic, social and cultural rights of the UN, signed by the Havana in 1998.
The event will be held as a prelude to the Second Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), which must meet in January 2014 in Havana. Cuba currently holds the presidency of the organization.
Participation in the forum of artists and intellectuals who live abroad, including Cuban exiles, depends on the permissions and controls established to enter the country by the government of Raul Castro. Immigration policy in force since Jan. 14 requires Cubans residing abroad a permit or authorization of their passport to travel to the island.
In late July, the official Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) convened its Eighth Congress, to be held in mid-2014.

DISIDENTES CUBANOS CONVOCAN A ENCUENTRO SOBRE DERECHOS HUMANOS EN LA HABANA.
El proyecto independiente Estado de Sats convocó este jueves en La Habana a un encuentro de intelectuales y artistas, incluyendo creadores del exilio cubano, para conmemorar el 65 aniversario de la Declaración Universal de los Derechos Humanos.
“En un momento en el que la sociedad civil cubana se encuentra en crecimiento es imprescindible el intercambio directo con diferentes actores de dentro y fuera de la isla. La realización de este encuentro permitirá un acercamiento desde el arte y el pensamiento a un tema tan vital como los derechos humanos”, indica un comunicado del grupo obtenido por CaféFuerte.
El evento, titulado I Encuentro Internacional sobre Derechos Humanos y Pactos de la ONU, se inaugurará el 10 de diciembre y sesionará durante dos días con paneles temáticos, muestras audiovisuales, una exposición sobre arte y derechos humanos (pintura, grafica, fotografía, instalaciones), performances y un concierto de clausura.
“Activistas, artistas, intelectuales y profesionales, cubanos y de la comunidad internacional, podrán durante dos días compartir visiones y experiencias, en un país donde dichas garantías y derechos no forman parte de la realidad cotidiana”, agrega la convocatoria.
Estado de Sats tiene su sede en la casa de Antonio G Rodiles, su fundador. Él y su pareja, la activista Ailer González, han sido detenidos en varias ocasiones por las fuerzas represivas cubanas.
Por otra Cuba
Rodiles sufrió una golpiza y estuvo arrestado 19 días el pasado noviembre. El 16 de agosto, la Seguridad del Estado intentó impedir la proyección de un documental sobre el artista disidente chino Ai Weiwei, pero más de 30 personas burlaron el cerco a la casa y lograron asistir a la función.
Desde agosto del 2012, Estado de Sats lleva a cabo la campaña “Por otra Cuba”, para exigirle al gobierno cubano la ratificación e implementación de los pactos de los derechos civiles y políticos y económicos, sociales y culturales de la ONU, suscritos por La Habana en 1998.
El evento se realizaría como antesala de la II Cumbre de la Comunidad de Estados Latinoamericanos y Caribeños (CELAC), que debe sesionar en enero del 2014 en La Habana. Cuba tiene actualmente la presidencia de la organización.
La participación en el foro de artistas e intelectuales que residen en el exterior, incluyendo los cubanos exiliados, dependerá de los permisos y controles establecidos para entrar al país por el gobierno de Raúl Castro. La política migratoria vigente desde el pasado 14 de enero exige a los cubanos que residen en el exterior un permiso o habilitación de su pasaporte para poder viajar a la isla.
A fines de julio, la oficialista Unión de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba (UNEAC) convocó a su VIII Congreso, que se realizará a mediados del 2014.
