The Havana Press May 13, 1909 and subsequent days kept discreet and respectful silence on the death of a poet 27-year -old blue-eyed after a sumptuous dinner ended his life in a restaurant in the Manzana de Gomez,La Habana where then would the Hall H.
Rene Lopez, who essentially contained in anthologies for his poem Boats passing , though he wrote many other very good , studied in Barcelona and, back in Havana, was devoted to the cultivation of letters .
One night he entered the restaurant alluded Manzana de Gomez . He ate like a prince and ordered a brandy to finish dinner. He mixed with cyanide in a jar wearing and asked for the bill . He told the waiter to bring it and at the same time told him:
– Tell the owner that this food is going to be paid in hell.
And quietly drank the gall .

La prensa habanera del 13 de mayo de 1909 y los días subsiguientes guardó discreto y respetuoso silencio sobre la muerte de un poeta de 27 años de edad y ojos azules que tras una cena opípara puso fin a su vida en un restaurante de la Manzana de Gómez,en la Habana donde después estaría el Salón H.
René López, que en las antologías figura esencialmente por su poema Barcos que pasan, aunque escribió otros muchos y muy buenos, estudió en Barcelona y, de vuelta en La Habana, se dedicó al cultivo de las letras.
Una noche entró al ya aludido restaurante de la Manzana de Gómez. Comió como un príncipe y pidió un coñac para rematar la cena. Lo mezcló con el cianuro que llevaba en un frasquito y pidió la cuenta. Dijo al camarero que se la trajo:
—Dígale al dueño que esta comida la va a cobrar en el infierno.
Y tranquilamente se bebió el tósigo.
