El proyecto se basará en un reciente artículo de la revista ‘Los Angeles Magazine’ sobre fuga del jugador.
La vida del jugador de béisbol cubano Yasiel Puig, estrella de Los Angeles Dodgers, será llevada al cine por Brett Ratner a través de su compañía RatPac Entertainment, informó la edición digital de The Hollywood Reporter, según EFE.
El proyecto se basará en el reciente artículo “Escape from Cuba: Yasiel Puig’s Untold Journey to the Dodgers”, firmado por Jesse Katz en la revista Los Angeles Magazine, donde se detallaban los intentos de Puig por escapar de Cuba en repetidas ocasiones.
Finalmente lo consiguió, gracias a una complicada operación en la que estuvieron involucrados, supuestamente, un rico patrocinador y contrabandistas que trabajaban para un cartel de la droga en México, quienes lo transportaron en barco a la península de Yucatán.
Cuando la persona que debía dar la cara por él no pagó de forma inmediata, según explicaba el artículo, el cartel tuvo cautivo a Puig durante 20 días.
Su viaje, no obstante, concluyó con éxito y ahora forma parte de las Grandes Ligas con un contrato por siete años y 42 millones de dólares.
Ratner y su productora se encuentran en busca de guionistas para la historia, según la publicación.
Puig, de 23 años, firmó por los Dodgers en el verano de 2012.
