Unos 14.000 nacionales cubanos cruzaron el río Bravo entre octubre y julio.
Alrededor de 14.000 personas de nacionalidad cubana llegaron a Estados Unidos por la frontera mexicana desde octubre de 2013, según las estadísticas del Departamento de Aduanas y Protección de Fronteras (CBP) publicadas este lunes por CaféFuerte. Estas cifras constituyen un récord histórico al doblar el flujo ilegal de ciudadanos de la Isla que pasaron en 2005 a través de los puntos de control migratorio entre México y Estados Unidos.
De acuerdo con los datos del CBP, un total de 20.522 cubanos llegaron a EE UU por puntos fronterizos hasta el pasado 21 de julio. El total de nacionales de la Isla que utilizaron el territorio mexicano (13.911) ya supera el total registrado en 2013 (13.664), aunque falten dos meses para el cierre del presente año fiscal, que finalizará el 30 de septiembre.
Desde 2005, unos 89.000 cubanos han entrado ilegalmente a EE UU por la frontera mexicana, con un fuerte incremento (40%) en 2013, para pedir asilo en puntos fronterizos amparándose en la Ley de Ajuste Cubano (CAA).
Estos datos no incluyen a los 56.410 cubanos que ingresan a EE UU por el aeropuerto de Miami (aunque este total no permita definir el número exacto de personas que piden refugio en el país, al abarcar también los viajeros que cuentan con visados de inmigrante o de visitantes por razones familiares o profesionales), ni a los naturalizados en España o en otros países de la Unión Europea.
EE UU otorga cada año unas 20.000 visas para inmigrantes cubanos.

Some 14,000 Cuban nationals crossed the Rio Grande between October and July.
Around 14,000 Cuban nationals came to the United States across the Mexican border since October 2013, according to statistics from the Department of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) published Monday by CaféFuerte. These figures are a record to bend the illegal flow of citizens from the island in 2005 that passed through immigration control points between Mexico and the United States.
According to CBP data, a total of 20,522 Cubans arrived in the United States through border points until July 21. Total nationals who used Isla Mexican territory (13,911) now exceeds the total for 2013 (13,664), although missing two months to the end of the current fiscal year, ending September 30.
Since 2005, some 89,000 Cubans have illegally entered the United States across the Mexican border, with a strong increase (40%) in 2013, to seek asylum at border points citing the Cuban Adjustment Act (CAA).
These data do not include the 56,410 Cubans who enter the United States through the airport in Miami (although this total does not allow to define the exact number of people seeking refuge in the country, to also cover travelers who have an immigrant visa or visitors by professional or family reasons) or naturalized in Spain or in other countries of the European Union.
