CONVERSACIONES DE EEUU Y CUBA TRANSCURREN “CON ESPÍRITU CONSTRUCTIVO”.
Las conversaciones entre Cuba y Estados Unidos sobre migración que se desarrollan este miércoles en La Habana transcurren “con un espíritu constructivo”, según ha revelado el portavoz cubano, Gustavo Machín, en una rueda de prensa.
“Ha sido una mañana provechosa”, ha dicho desde el Palacio de Convenciones de La Habana. “Hemos estado intercambiando sobre el tema migratorio de una forma respetuosa y con un espíritu constructivo”, ha asegurado.
Machín ha destacado que ambas delegaciones han hablado “con fluidez, con apertura, a pesar de que tienen algunas diferencias en sus enfoques sobre determinados fenómenos migratorios entre ambos países”.
En concreto, ha detallado que Cuba he expresado sus “serias preocupaciones” por “la permanencia de la ley de ajuste cubano y la política de ‘pies secos, pies mojados’, que es el principal estímulo para la inmigración ilegal hacia Estados Unidos y atenta contra el espíritu y la letra de los acuerdos migratorios que se están revisando”.
Está previsto que por la tarde (hora local), ambas delegaciones, encabezadas por la directora general para Estados Unidos, Josefina Vidal Ferreiro, y por el subsecretario de Estado para el Hemisferio Occidental, Edward Alex Lee, sigan discutiendo sobre migración.
RELACIONES DIPLOMÁTICAS.
El jueves será cuando las delegaciones, ya con la presencia de la secretaria para el Hemisferio Occidental, Roberta Jacobson, aborden el tema principal de este encuentro en La Habana: la normalización de las relaciones diplomáticas.
“Mañana, día 22, se realizará la primera reunión sobre el proceso de restablecimiento de las relaciones diplomáticas entre ambos países, y en horas de la tarde tendrá efecto una reunión para abordar otros asuntos bilaterales”, ha detallado el Ministerio de Exteriores cubano.
El Gobierno de Raúl Castro ha subrayado que “el restablecimiento de las relaciones diplomáticas”, que pasa por la apertura de embajadas en Washington y La Habana, “debe basarse en Convención de Viena sobre relaciones diplomáticas y consulares”.
