Mastercard announced Friday that it will lift the blockade on Cuba operations with cards issued in the United States from March 1 this year, in line with recent decisions of the Treasury, Reuters reports.
The information was published on a company newsletter sent to banks and other clients. Seth Eisen, MasterCard spokesman confirmed the contents of the newsletter to Bloomberg News.
As indicated by the medium, MasterCard Inc. and Visa cards issued by banks outside the United States and are accepted on the island.

Mastercard anunció el viernes que levantará el bloqueo a las operaciones en Cuba con tarjetas emitidas en Estados Unidos a partir del 1 de marzo de este año, en línea con decisiones recientes del Departamento del Tesoro, informa Reuters.
La información fue publicada en un boletín de la empresa enviado a los bancos y otros clientes. Seth Eisen, portavoz de MasterCard, confirmó el contenido del boletín a Bloomberg News.
Según indica el medio, las tarjetas MasterCard y Visa Inc. emitidas por bancos fuera de los Estados Unidos ya se aceptan en la Isla.
