Erislandy Savón fue elegido este martes mejor púgil amateur americano de 2014, año en el cual resultó pieza clave en la coronación de los Domadores de Cuba en la IV Serie Mundial, informa la estatal Agencia de Información Nacional.
El cubano fue seleccionado por los directivos de la Confederación Continental de Boxeo, reunidos en Caracas, informó el comisionado de ese deporte en la Isla, Alberto Puig.
En noviembre pasado, la Asociación Internacional de Boxeo Amateur (AIBA), proclamó a Savón, de los pesos cruceros, mejor competidor de la IV Serie Mundial, donde el cubano ganó en ocho subidas al ring.
El guantanamero también mostró su clase en la Copa Mohammed VI disputada en Marruecos, el certamen clasificatorio para los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe, con sede en Tijuana, y la propia cita regional acogida por Veracruz.
