Priceline Group, the online travel company, is considering regulations that allow US companies to establish bank accounts and branches in Cuba, said Leslie Cafferty, Global Communications Vice President of the firm.
Priceline Group Inc is studying ways to increase its operations to Cuba in light of the new rules that the United States announced on Friday to ease trade and investment restrictions with the island.
Priceline Group, the company travels world’s most profitable Internet, is considering regulations that allow US companies to establish bank accounts and branches in Cuba, he told Reuters on Sunday his vice president, Global Communications, Leslie Cafferty.
“We are exploring all the new options and hope to have operations running in the short term,” he said.
The company has already taken steps to expand their business to Cuba. Its subsidiary Kayak a “metasearch” makes comparisons between hundreds of websites and online hotel chains, currently showing its customers hotels and flights to Cuba.
Cafferty said while Friday ads “do not change much” in part because US citizens are still unable to make sightseeing trips to the island-yes could pave the way for US travel book directly on the largest subsidiary of group, Booking.com.
