Cuba registró en noviembre la cifra más alta «en años» de detenciones por motivos políticos: al menos 1.447, según ha denunciado la disidente Comisión Cubana de Derechos Humanos y Reconciliación Nacional (Ccdhrn).
El informe mensual elaborado por la organización que dirige el exprisionero de conciencia Elizardo Sánchez señaló este jueves que la actividad represiva ha sido «notoria», especialmente contra el grupo femenino opositor conocido como las Damas de Blanco, y quienes «se atreven a acompañarlas» cada domingo en su habitual caminata.
En cada una de estas ocasiones, las activistas y sus acompañantes son «brutalmente golpeados y sometidos a toda clase de vejámenes», al ser detenidos por la policía política secreta tras concluir la misa dominical a la que asisten en la iglesia católica de Santa Rita, en el habanero barrio de Miramar, indica el texto divulgado por Efe.
La Comisión Cubana considera que el régimen cubano responde «cada vez con mayor furia represiva» contra quienes «solamente reclaman la excarcelación de los prisioneros políticos y el respeto de los derechos civiles y otros derechos fundamentales».
Según datos de este grupo disidente, las acciones represivas tienen lugar en todas las regiones de la isla, sobre todo en las provincias orientales y centrales, donde la opositora Unión Patriótica de Cuba (Unpacu), continua como «blanco prioritario». En su informe, la Ccdhrn acusa al Gobierno de Raúl Castro de «perfeccionar y aumentar el tamaño de sus maquinarias de represión, propaganda e intimidación».
El Observatorio Cubano de Derechos Humanos (OCDH) denunciaba al mismo tiempo al menos 506 detenciones de ellas correspondientes a mujeres, según la información enviada por los observadores en la isla a la sede en Madrid. Esta cifra «convierte a noviembre en el mes más represivo del año».
