“La Letra del Año” dada a conocer hoy en La Habana por los babalaos cubanos predicen un 2016 durante el cual se agravará la crisis migratoria mundial y habrá estallidos sociales, aunque por otra parte aumentará la inversión extranjera y se producirá un mayor entendimiento entre países.
Es la primera vez que salen a la luz tales augurios de forma unida, tras la reunión que sostuvieron este 31 de diciembre todos los sacerdotes de la santería, en ceremonia celebrada en la capital cubana.

Según el reporte de EFE, los sacerdotes cubanos afirmaron que el año que entra estará regido por el signo de Ogbe Yono y recomendaron que se utilice el diálogo como “herramienta importante en la solución de los conflictos” y se establezcan “acuerdos favorables” en política migratoria. Por otra parte, Ogbe Yono augura peligro de guerras y previene ante un posible “descontrol en las gestiones económicas” y un “peligroso aumento de actos terroristas”, dijo hoy el sacerdote Lázaro Cuesta, vicepresidente de la Asociación Yoruba de Cuba.
Esto se debe a que en 2016 la deidad regente será Oggún, uno de los orishas guerreros, que simboliza la violencia, la virilidad, la juventud, el peligro por hierro, el fuego y las armas. A Oggún lo acompaña este año Oshún, la reina de las aguas dulces del mundo, que personifica el amor y la fertilidad, y se sincretiza con la Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre, santa patrona de la Isla.
La Letra advirtió también de que se debe prestar especial atención a la aparición de epidemias, garantizar el “saneamiento de barrios y sitios marginales” y cuidarse de enfermedades digestivas, neurológicas e intoxicaciones. Cuesta destacó que el signo Ogbe Yono ya rigió durante los años 1994, 1999 y 2002, por lo que se deben tomar como “referencia” los avances y errores de estos periodos.

La Asociación Yoruba de Cuba comenzó a publicar su Letra por separado desde hace aproximadamente una década, hasta que el pasado 20 de junio miembros de la Comisión decidieron integrarse en la organización oficialista, en un polémico paso criticado por algunos santeros.
Lázaro Cuesta, uno de los “babalawos” fundadores de la Comisión y ahora directivo de la Asociación Yoruba, se defendió antes de anunciar la predicción para 2016 diciendo que solo “cumple con su deber” de contribuir “a la unidad de los santeros cubanos”.
Muchos de los religiosos presentes saludaron esta iniciativa de favorecer “a la unidad en lugar de a las discrepancias de espíritu” y saludaron la decisión, entre ellos Juan Piedra, presidente de la filial de la Asociación Yoruba en California, Estados Unidos. “He venido para ser testigo de la labor que aquí se hace, que nos sirve de estímulo para continuar”, dijo a los presentes.
