ARRIVAL OF CUBANS TO U.S. DOUBLED IN THE LAST THREE MONTHS.
More than 17,000 Cubans reached US in the last three months of 2015, a figure that almost doubles arrivals recorded in the same period last year and is part of the crisis caused by the massive influx of islanders to Costa Rica and Panama , reports EFE.
17,071 were Cuban citizens who managed to enter the United States in October, November and December 2015, according to the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) of the US, which had access Tuesday the Spanish agency.
This figure is almost double the 9,219 Cuban migrants who reached US soil in the last three months of 2014 and triple the 5,770 who did so in the last quarter of 2013, according to data from the CBP, agency responsible for controlling the borders.
The data show an increase in immigration to the United States to Cuban citizens, who fear that the restoration of relations between Washington and Havana causing the elimination of the Cuban Adjustment Act (1961), which provides them get US residency.
“The administration has no plans to change our current immigration policy of Cuba or to promote legislative change in relation to the Cuban Adjustment Act,” a spokesman told EFE CBP.

Más de 17.000 cubanos alcanzaron Estados Unidos en los últimos tres meses de 2015, una cifra que casi duplica las llegadas registradas en el mismo periodo del año anterior y que se enmarca dentro de la crisis generada por la llegada masiva de isleños a Costa Rica y Panamá, informa EFE.
Fueron 17.071 ciudadanos cubanos los que consiguieron entrar en Estados Unidos en octubre, noviembre y diciembre de 2015, según datos de la Oficina de Aduanas y Protección Fronteriza (CBP) de Estados Unidos, a los que este martes tuvo acceso la agencia española.
Esta cifra casi duplica los 9.219 inmigrantes cubanos que alcanzaron suelo estadounidense en los tres últimos meses de 2014 y triplica los 5.770 que lo hicieron en el último trimestre de 2013, según los datos de la CBP, agencia encargada del control de las fronteras del país.
Los datos muestran un incremento de la inmigración a Estados Unidos de ciudadanos cubanos, que temen que el restablecimiento de las relaciones entre Washington y La Habana provoque la eliminación de la Ley de Ajuste Cubano (1961), que les facilita conseguir la residencia estadounidense.
“La administración no tiene planes de cambiar nuestra actual política de inmigración de Cuba o de promover un cambio legislativo en relación con la Ley de Ajuste Cubano”, dijo a EFE un portavoz de la CBP.
