El servicio de tarjetas de crédito emitidas por el banco Stonegate aún no está activo en Cuba, alertó el Banco Central de Cuba (BCC) alegando que aún son necesarios ajustes financieros y legales entre Cuba y Estados Unidos.
La tarjeta permitirá a los viajeros estadounidenses realizar compras en “los más de 10.000 hoteles, restaurantes y otros negocios” equipados para ese tipo de transacción en la isla, ya sean privados o estatales, señaló este martes MasterCard en un comunicado de prensa.
“Las pruebas técnicas con estas nuevas tarjetas en la red de cajeros automáticos se realizaron en coordinación con MasterCard y el Stonegate Bank, para comprobar su funcionamiento. No obstante, se alertó que aún faltaban aspectos financieros y legales que ajustar con el proveedor que brinda el servicio de intermediación para conectar a la red de MasterCard, por lo que en junio de 2016 no sería posible dar curso a estas operaciones por esta vía”.
El Banco Central de Cuba aseguró que “se continúa trabajando de conjunto con MasterCard y con los demás entes que intervienen en esta operación, para brindar el servicio en la red de cajeros automáticos a las tarjetas de Stonegate Bank y a todas aquellas que los bancos de Estados Unidos permitan a sus clientes utilizar en Cuba en el menor tiempo posible y así contribuir a ofrecer un mejor servicio a los visitantes”.
