U.S. COMPANY NESTLE WILL BE THE FIRST TO IMPORT CUBAN COFFEE.
Cuban coffee will be exported to the United States after more than 50 years. Nespresso, the Nestlé Group, will be the first company to do so, reported Monday the Reuters Agency.
Cuban coffee is one of the products of the non-State sector of the island that the US State Department authorized for importation last April. The National Bureau of the National Association of small farmers (ANAP) rejected the measure and accused her of having as objective “influence on the Cuban peasantry and separate it from the State.”

Starbucks Corp, one of Nespresso’s main competitors in the U.S. market, told Reuters that at the moment it does not plan to import coffee from Cuba.

El café cubano volverá a exportarse a EE UU después de más de 50 años. Nespresso, del grupo Nestlé, será la primera empresa en hacerlo, según ha informado este lunes la agencia Reuters.
El café cubano es uno de los productos del sector no estatal de la Isla que el Departamento de Estado norteamericano autorizó para la importación el pasado mes de abril. El Buró Nacional de la Asociación Nacional de Agricultores Pequeños (ANAP) rechazó la medida y la acusó de tener como objetivo “influir sobre el campesinado cubano y separarlo del Estado”.

Nespresso afirmó este lunes que lanzará al mercado estadounidense el Cafecito de Cuba en otoño de este año, aunque inicialmente el producto estará disponible en cantidades limitadas.
El presidente de Nepresso USA, Guillaume Le Cunff, explicó que la firma colaborará con la organización sin ánimo de lucro TechnoServe para apoyar a los cultivadores independientes de café en la Isla.
“Queremos que los consumidores en EE UU prueben este increíble café y lo disfruten ahora y en los próximos años”, agregó el ejecutivo.
Starbucks Corp, uno de los principales competidores de Nespresso en el mercado estadounidense, explicó a Reuters que por el momento no planea importar café de Cuba.
