La entrada del General Pérez Róspide dentro del mundo empresarial comenzó en 1988, cuando Raúl Castro lo nombró Director de la Unión de la Industria Militar, a cargo de garantizar la reparación general de todo el armamento y técnica de las FAR: naval, terrestre y aérea (aviones, barcos, cañones, tanques, equipos de comunicaciones, etc.) fabricar sus piezas de repuesto y producir todo el armamento ligero de las Fuerzas Armadas.El general Pérez Róspide inició su aventura militar, bajo las órdenes de Raúl Castro con apenas 15 años en su natal Guantánamo.
