SPORTS: AROLDIS CHAPMAN SIGNS WITH THE YANKEES FOR 86 MILLION.
The Cuban Pitcher, free agent, Aroldis Chapman has agreed a five-year Pact and 86 million dollars with the Yankees, MLB.com reported.
The agreement would impose a new record in the major leagues for a contract for a reliever: higher payments so far had been that of Jonathan Papelbon signed with the Phillies in 2011 by 50 million and four years; and Mark Melancon, 62 million dollars, with the Giants for four seasons.
The duration of the contract, which would be the longest signed by a reliever is also a record: five years.
Ken Rosenthal de la Fox Sports reported that Chapman contract includes a departure after the 2019 season clause, a clause of do not change during the three first years and a limitation of no change for the past two seasons.
There would also be other restriction that would prevent him from moving to other equipment from California, according to MLB.com.
The Cuban flamethrower had an average of effectiveness of 2.01 and 20 rescues by the Yankees last year before being sent to the Cubs, who helped win the world series.
Chapman, who will turn 29 in February, began his major league career with the reds, who sent him to New York after the 2015 campaign. And this last season played with the Chicago Cubs.

El pitcher cubano, agente libre, Aroldis Chapman ha acordado un pacto de cinco años y 86 millones de dólares con los Yankees, informó MLB.com.
El acuerdo impondría un nuevo récord de las Grandes Ligas para un contrato de un relevista: los pagos más altos hasta ahora habían sido el de Jonathan Papelbon firmado en 2011 con los Filis por 50 millones y cuatro años; y el de Mark Melancon, por cuatro temporadas y 62 millones de dólares, con los Gigantes.
Asimismo, es un récord la duración del contrato que sería el de más años firmado por un relevista: un lustro.
Ken Rosenthal de la Fox Sports informó que el contrato de Chapman incluye una cláusula de salida después de la temporada 2019, una cláusula de no cambio durante los tres primeros años y una limitación de no cambio para las dos últimas temporadas.
También habría otra restricción que le impediría trasladarse a cualquier otro equipo de California, según informó MLB.com.
