Banyan Tree opens its first hotel in Cuba in January. The Singaporean company developed three other projects with the Cuban military ‘Gaviota’.
Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts announced Wednesday the opening of the new Dhawa Cayo Santa María on January 5, whereupon the Singapore-based hotel makes its entry to the industry of tourism in Cuba.
According to published web Skift, the hotel group is building four new complexes in Cuba, everyone associated with the company Gaviota, owned by the revolutionary armed forces. The latest facilities is expected to be ready for the year 2019.

According to Skift, there are multiple factors that have determined the entrance of the Hotel Singapore to the Cuban market. “We work closely with the Government of Singapore, and they have a division of international company seeking to link Singapore companies with opportunities in different countries,” said Des Pugson, Vice-President of Banyan Tree. “In addition, Cuba is obviously waiting to open, and all signs indicate that it will be open. Singapore, in fact, no visa required to travel to Cuba and this is reciprocal, so this is the right time”.
Dhawa Cayo Santa Maria will have 516 rooms and is located in the cayo that bears that name, in the Jardines del Rey, 250 km east of Havana. The tourist pole is at the same time 75 minutes from Santa Clara airport, which receives direct flights from American Airlines, Air Canada, WestJet and Air Transat.
After the inauguration of Dhawa next January, will be inaugurated the Angsana resort in December 2017, with what the company will add 220 rooms to his presence in Cuba.

Banyan Tree inaugura su primer hotel en Cuba en enero próximo. La compañía singapurense desarrolla otros tres proyectos con la militar cubana ‘Gaviota’.
Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts anunció este miércoles la apertura del nuevo Dhawa Cayo Santa María el próximo 5 de enero, con lo cual la hotelera basada en Singapur hace su entrada a la industria del turismo en Cuba.
Según publica la web Skift, el grupo hotelero está construyendo cuatro nuevos complejos en Cuba, todos asociados a la empresa Gaviota, propiedad de la Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias. Las últimas instalaciones se espera estén listas para el año 2019.
De acuerdo a Skift, son múltiples los factores que han determinado la entrada de la hotelera singapurense al mercado cubano. “Trabajamos de cerca con el gobierno de Singapur, y ellos tienen una división de empresa internacional que busca vincular compañías singapurenses con las oportunidades en diversos países”, dijo Des Pugson, vicepresidente de Banyan Tree. “Además, Cuba obviamente está esperando a abrirse, y todos los signos indican que se va a abrir. Singapur, de hecho, no requiere visa para viajar a Cuba y esto es recíproco, así que este es el momento correcto”.
Dhawa Cayo Santa María contará con 516 habitaciones y se localiza en el cayo que lleva ese nombre, en los Jardines del Rey, a 250 km al este de La Habana. El polo turístico se encuentra a su vez a unos 75 minutos del Aeropuerto de Santa Clara, que recibe vuelos directos de American Airlines, Air Canada, WestJet y Air Transat.
Luego de la inauguración de Dhawa en enero próximo, será inaugurado el complejo Angsana en diciembre de 2017, con lo que la compañía sumará otras 220 habitaciones a su presencia en Cuba.
